First Task Edit

Description Edit

A strange man who claims to have knowledge of sea treasure has given you a tool to grab treasure from the sea. He told you to look for shiny spots on the ocean. He wants you to bring him 10 sunken coins so that you wouldn't have stolen the grabber that he gave you.

— Journal

Walkthrough Edit

Upon first talking to the Sea Treasure Hunter, he will give you the Grabber, allowing you to fish up Sea Treasure Caches at sea, and ask you to bring him 10 Sunken Coins so as to not have you 'steal' it.

Sea Treasure Caches are located under the glowing spots at sea. In order to fish them up, you need to position your ship so that the grabber is directly above a glowing spot, and simply use it; you'll acquire a Sea Treasure Cache.

Deliver 10 Sunken Coins

Ha! Yer back! And lookie ye, ye brought me ten coins. Ye ain't a thief no more! Well I think ye've earned a special treat. I've been workin' on somethin'! It's a big ol' metal bowl. I've been eatin' grits out of it. But that's not what it's for! It's for whackin'. Ye whack the middle bit, and it makes a big ol' sound. And it's the perfect sound! 'Cause only treasure bounces it back. And when treasure bounces it back, it's an even better sound. Because that means treasure! The sooner the sound bounces back, the closer the treasure. So I call it a Sooner. Maybe it'll help ye find those deeper treasures that are so bashful. What do ye say to making the deal even more of a steal? Bring me 20 more o' them sunken coins! I've got an idea to work on in between time.

Second Task Edit

Description Edit

The strange man gave you a new object to be placed on your boat. This one creates some sort of noise that allows you to estimate how far away sea treasure is. He also asked you to bring him 20 more sunken coins.

— Journal

Walkthrough Edit

Once you return to him with 10 Sunken Coins, he will reward you with the Sooner, which will make it easier for you to hook up Large Sea Treasure Caches, before asking you to bring him 20 more Sunken Coins.

Large Sea Treasure Caches come from the thin, glowing pillars at sea. As you approach one, use the Sooner to get an auditory clue as to how far from it you currently are. If you lined up your ship properly to have your Grabber directly above where the treasure is, and the Sooner has reached it's highest pitch, you can use the Grabber to acquire a Large Sea Treasure Cache.

Deliver 20 Sunken Coins

Ho! Ho ha! You brought 'em! Now I've got thirty. That's just how many I wanted. But now I want more! Because I discovered a great secret. The coins are cursed! Ho ha ha! But not just any old curse. A curse that brings out more treasure! A curse that fills yer purse. That's not a curse at all! But bah! It's still all under the sea. That's why I made this thing. It's me favorite thing I've made. It's a thing! I'm not sure what to call it. It finds only the rarest of sunken treasures... treasure that doesn't exist! At least not yet. The secret curse of the coins summons the treasure! But ye gotta find it. So you look at the orb on the top of my thing. It changes color! The closer it is to red, the closer ye are to the treasure! If it's dark, yer far, far away. Ye don't gotta whack this one. Just look at it. Give it a try! I'll use some of me coins to summon some o' the treasure. And every time ye bring me 10 more coins, I'll summon some more! I aint' tellin' how, though. It's me secret.

Third Task Edit

Description Edit

After bringing him 20 more sunken coins, the strange man gave you yet another object. This one changes colors as you get closer to rare treasure. He also informed you that rare treasure doesn't even exist until he summons them somehow.

— Journal

Walkthrough Edit

Once you return to him with 20 more Sunken Coins, he will reward you with the Treasure Thing, an item similar to the Sooner, but that allows you to find even rarer treasures that the Sea Treasure Hunter summons himself, the Cursed Sea Treasure Caches.

These caches are much harder to find, and acquire, as they require the use of the Treasure Thing to track down once spawned. The Treasure Thing varies in colour depending on your distance from the cache, going from pure black, through blue up to a bright red, indicating a cache is really close. They can be identified visually, as these caches also have a large beam of light above them. However, the Cursed Sea Treasure Cache's beams are much larger, and will vanish from a much farther distance, making them a very difficult item to obtain.

If you manage to position your Grabber above one, use it to acquire the Cursed Sea Treasure Cache. The Sea Hunter's Quest has already ended, but you can return to him at any time with 10 Sunken Coins in order to spawn more Cursed Sea Treasure Caches.
