Aye, treasure! And so much of it, too. It's all out there just waiting to be grabbed. But no one's grabbin' it! Not ye. Not me. Not no-one!
Yep! I built it meself. Instead of sailin', I spent me time readin'. And swimmin'. But mostly readin'. And I learned! I learned the horrors of boats. Keep yers away. But I also learned how to work wood and shape and build! So I built a grabber. But I ain't buildin' no boats. So I can't use it. Too much readin', not enough thinkin'. Ah well.
I could use it.
Aye! Ye could! So ye want to grab treasure from the sea? I could give ye my grabber and ye could go grabbin'? But that would be stealin' from me. Don't you be stealin' from me. So you'll pay for it instead! A deal is better than a steal. Grab me 10 o' them sunken coins ye find under the sea. A steal of a deal!
Ha! Good! I can't wait to start collectin' those coins. No! Bah! Ye can't pay for me grabber if ye can't grab the coins! Guess ye'll be stealin' it after all. Here. Grab me grabber and go. But don't forget to come back and turn the steal into a deal!
A strange man who claims to have knowledge of sea treasure has given you a tool to grab treasure from the sea. He told you to look for shiny spots on the ocean. He wants you to bring him 10 sunken coins so that you wouldn't have stolen the grabber that he gave you.
After talking for the first time to the Sea Treasure Hunter, he will give you the grabber, enabling you to find sea treasures hidden in the sea. Your first task is to bring him 10 sunken coins to repay your debt. Those sunken coins can be found when opening sea treasure caches.
In order to catch a sea treasure, you need to position the grabber directly above the self-shining stain and use it. Be aware that the light will disappear as soon as you reached it.
Ha! Yer back! And lookie ye, ye brought me ten coins. Ye ain't a thief no more! Well I think ye've earned a special treat. I've been workin' on somethin'! It's a big ol' metal bowl. I've been eatin' grits out of it. But that's not what it's for! It's for whackin'. Ye whack the middle bit, and it makes a big ol' sound. And it's the perfect sound! 'Cause only treasure bounces it back. And when treasure bounces it back, it's an even better sound. Because that means treasure! The sooner the sound bounces back, the closer the treasure. So I call it a Sooner. Maybe it'll help ye find those deeper treasures that are so bashful. What do ye say to making the deal even more of a steal? Bring me 20 more o' them sunken coins! I've got an idea to work on in between time.
The strange man gave you a new object to be placed on your boat. This one creates some sort of noise that allows you to estimate how far away sea treasure is. He also asked you to bring him 20 more sunken coins.
The second task starts right after you finished the first. The Sea Treasure Hunter will give you the sooner, an item placeable on boats that makes a loud sound when close to treasures. He will ask you to bring him 20 more sunken coins to repay your debt.
The sooner can help you to localize the large sea treasure caches localized under the thin rays of light. These rays will disapear before you can even reach them. You can use the sooner in order to receive acoustical representations of how far from the treasure you are now. When the sooner makes a loud sound right after you activate it, you're most likely in the right place. Use your grabber to recover the large sea treasure cache. These caches contains more sunken coins than their small counterpart.
Ho! Ho ha! You brought 'em! Now I've got thirty. That's just how many I wanted. But now I want more! Because I discovered a great secret. The coins are cursed! Ho ha ha! But not just any old curse. A curse that brings out more treasure! A curse that fills yer purse. That's not a curse at all! But bah! It's still all under the sea. That's why I made this thing. It's me favorite thing I've made. It's a thing! I'm not sure what to call it. It finds only the rarest of sunken treasures... treasure that doesn't exist! At least not yet. The secret curse of the coins summons the treasure! But ye gotta find it. So you look at the orb on the top of my thing. It changes color! The closer it is to red, the closer ye are to the treasure! If it's dark, yer far, far away. Ye don't gotta whack this one. Just look at it. Give it a try! I'll use some of me coins to summon some o' the treasure. And every time ye bring me 10 more coins, I'll summon some more! I aint' tellin' how, though. It's me secret.
After bringing him 20 more sunken coins, the strange man gave you yet another object. This one changes colors as you get closer to rare treasure. He also informed you that rare treasure doesn't even exist until he summons them somehow.
The third and final task starts right after you complete the second. You will receive the treasure thing, used to find very rare sea treasures. The Sea Treasure Hunter explains that for every 10 sunken coins you bring him, he will summons a rare sea treasure. He summons the first one for free.
The rare sea treasures are very hard to acquire. They can be localized from far away thanks to very tall ray of light. However, those rays will disapear even if the player is still far from them. The treasure thing changes in colour depending on your distance from the treasure, going from pure black (very far away) to bright red (very close). Still, even if the treasure thing is bright red, the research's area is still pretty large. The player can use the sooner to further improves his chances to find the treasure.
Before the 2.0 Update, there was a trick used to easily locate rare sea treasure. The player just needed to rest trought the night and at dawn, the ray of light appeared very briefly before disapearing again due to the player's proximity.
